Movie quotes, Trivia and other nonsense ramble... like a weekend at the Starlight Swap Meet!
Yes, I am diligently entertaining my mom... but I did see your list on movie quotes, so I figured I would give it a try as well...
First, I am generally horrible at quoting a movie, conversation, joke... what I do is... shall I say... paraphrasing... Second... this isn't a "greatest quotes" list by far... I'd prefer to call it a "good quotes" list... there are many better quotes that I will think of once I post this... so for now, "Good Movie Quotes as of June 25th" list... Third... I have never been able to pin down the exact meaningful quote, most of the time it is meaningful dialogue that sticks in my mine... semantics, I know. Fourth... some of the quotes do come from the same movie as yours... in the interest of not staying up until three in the morning searching the net for every movie and every quote that I enjoyed... I was unoriginal and used your list for a springboard. Lastly... and BONUS... should you make it this far... after the quotes there is some pretty awful trivia that I learned in the last 24 hours... ENJOY!
Good Will Hunting (Sean & Will are discussing when Sean first met his wife, he had tickets to game six of the World Series)
WILL - Did you rush the field?
SEAN - No... I didn't rush the f#$kin' field, I wasn't there.
WILL - What?
SEAN - No... I was in a bar havin' a drink with my future wife.
WILL- You missed Pudge Fisk's homerun?
Almost Famous (William is explaining to Penny the trouble he is in with his mom)
WILLIAM MILLER - I have to go home.
PENNY LANE - You are home.
Say Anything (Lloyd & Diane have just had steamy, dewy relations in the back of Lloyd's car)
DIANE - Are you shaking?
LLOYD - No.
DIANE - You're shaking.
LLOYD - I don't think so.
DIANE - You're cold.
LLOYD - I don't think I am.
DIANE - Then why are you shaking?
LLOYD - I don't know. I think I'm happy.
Glengarry Glen Ross (The big man, Blake, from Mitch & Murray downtown telling the sales crew about a new incentive)
BLAKE - ...first prize is a Cadillac El Dorado, Anybody want to see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is your fired.
Mommie Dearest (Certainly not a "great" quote, but a timely quote, since we just saw the movie at Piedmont's "Screen on the Green")
JOAN: NO WIRE HANGERS!!
Congratulations, you made it... now for some devastatingly bad trivia!!
Trivia 1 - There is a word that uses all five vowels... what is it?
Trivia 2 - Georgia's official fish (do all states have this?)
Trivia 3 - The custom of giving tips in restaurants is derived from an acronym of the word, "TIPS."
Answer 1 - Sequoia... I said Airbourne, but my mom disputed that. She said that the proper spelling was, "Airborne"... well she obviously hasn't seen me spell it... and I came up with that in 10 seconds so I had to defend it.
Answer 2 - Largemouth Bass... all I have to say about this is, "where the heck did I just move?" This does, however, explain why so many Atlanta businesses are giving their employees the day off when the "Dukes of Hazzard" movie opens. August 5th, by the way...
Answer 3 - TIPS stands for "To Insure Proper Service"... upon inception, TIPS were given "prior" to the meal by gentlemen attempting to secure a pleasant evening for their dinner company.
HA! That is all that I have... please make sure to carry out your trash and fill out the exit survey on your way out of the theater!

Where was the Banana flavored rum??
Is it a good thing when a single guy in Atlanta take in ambience, beautiful people and all the drinks he wants for a mere $2? Yes, it is the United States and no it is not a strip club. Where could this hedonistic adventure possibly take place? If you said Compound in Midtown’s Westside, you would be correct. But let’s be honest… how many people would have guessed? Oh yeah… did I mention that it had to be on a Monday night? And did I mention that you had to sweet talk your way past angry no-neck security man and his beautiful Swedish models? Say you navigate through all of that… well then BINGO, you are a winner and you are in what some say is Atlanta’s hottest club for Parrot Bay’s unveiling of FOUR, count them FOUR new flavors of rum.
I would like to mention a few key facts. A) It is a Monday night… no one… I repeat, no one, should be drinking anything on a Monday night… B) Monday night is a mere 12 hours or less from Tuesday morning… by all accounts, a part of the standard five-day work week… so no one… I repeat no one, should be OUT on a Monday night. Were the Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday binge not enough for some people? Obviously not, because the cabana-like club was packed with enough specimens to get Hugh Hefner excited. C) Rum, even if from Captain Morgan’s Parrot Bay is an evil cousin toTequila because its sugary syrupy flavor will mask the swift kick to the head that alcohol often provides its imbibers.
So here I was… going to and fro the many “Flavor Cabanas” where samples were being provided of the latest rum flavors from Parrot Bay. I should note that the flavors, coconut, passion fruit, mango and pineapple, each came with a fruit sample at the beginning of each “tasting”, which, if you ask me, was the best part of the samplings…
As I stood in this remote island replica of a nightclub, complete with running streams and palm trees I realized that moving 1800 miles away from friends and family sometimes becomes challenging. This would be one of those times… I ran into a lady who had invited me to this event just the day before, but contemplated not showing up because typically, most unlike most normal human beings, I find it a bit annoying to stand in a room full of people that I don’t know in an atmosphere that is supposed to be social in a city that is supposed to be America’s social city.
Alright, so I am feeling a bit jaded and sarcastic tonight, maybe that is the effect that rum has on me. I should have called the lush ex-girlfriend and invited her. This clearly was her scene. She was always good for an event like this, that is until I had to carry her out of the place with her cursing at me for leaving the party too early when the only people left in the place were the barbacks who were cleaning up vomit and pee praying that they could finish so they could go home to see their kids before sunrise.
So… it is official, I am cynical tonight. But I am allowed… right? You get two cynical days and one mopey day for every 27 days that you live… So after cruising around this place for about an hour, playing the Parrot Bay version of Plinko and watching the Georgian Mating Dance in full fledged action, I figured I had my fill and headed for the exit. Little did I realize, that the best part of my evening was that one of the Swedish models shoved a carry out pack at me on my way out the door and to my excitement, amongst the Parrot Bay paraphernalia was a nice new pair of shiny black sandals… now that is a score… even if I had to perserver through a stormy Monday night to get them.
